Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Gonçalo Guedes is set to finally get back to playing.
The winger hasn’t featured since the 21st of May, when he suffered a knee injury which led to surgery, and according to Record, he should be on the pitch this week.
Guedes had already been training with Benfica’s squad, but as explained by manager Roger Schmidt, there’s a big difference between him training and actually playing a game.
The Eagles seem to have held him back for the best moment, because on Friday, Benfica have the big Clássico against Porto at the Estádio da Luz.
That’s great news for Wolves, who’ve undoubtedly been watching the situation closely.
The Molineux side had already loaned Guedes to Benfica in January this year. Since he struggled with injuries and needed surgery, the Eagles asked for the spell to get extended in the summer.
Wolves had their hands tied, as with the player recovering from the surgery, not many clubs would make offers for him, so they loaned him back to the Eagles for another year.
Now it’s time for Guedes to prove himself at Benfica and maybe convince them of going for a permanent move at the end of the season.
