Newcastle's 24-year-old star believes the score should have been bigger against Burnley despite dealing with critical issues

Alexander Isak found himself on the score sheet again this afternoon as Newcastle United beat Burnley 2-0 at St James’ Park.

Newcastle‘s record signing Alexander Isak picked up his fourth goal in six Premier League games this season calmly slotting beyond James Trafford from the spot against Burnley.

After the game, Isak spoke to the media (via Jordan Cronin on X) and the striker bemoaned the lack of sharpness in front of goal.

Isak said that Newcastle were lacking sharpness in front of goal
Despite the 2-0 win, Newcastle perhaps should have had more as Isak said in his interview: : “It was important, happy with the three points. We had a lot of chances to put away more but the sharpness wasn’t there like last week. The most important [thing] is the three points.”

It was one of those games where the ball seemed to have a mind of its own and the only thing it wanted was to avoid being struck by a Newcastle player.
Isak had several opportunities alone that he would have buried on any other day, but somehow the ball just kept evading him, or sitting up in the wrong spot.

Newcastle have now kept five clean sheets in a row

However, unlike the earlier games in the season when these things seemed to be happening due to poor play, these things were just down to luck more than judgement.
The positive thing, is despite all this, Newcastle were still able to come away with three points and their fifth clean sheet in a row in all competitions.

That has to be giving the players confidence going into a tricky Champions League home tie against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
