Newcastle United had an excellent September winning four out of six games and drawing with AC Milan in the Champions League.

In the Premier League the month started off with a devastating defeat to Brighton, but following the international break, something just started to click for Newcastle and their fortunes changed dramatically.

A hard-fought 1-0 over Brentford took the Magpies into the Champions League tie against AC Milan, then on the following Sunday Newcastle battered Sheffield United 8-0 before knocking the European Champions Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle finished September with another win
Newcastle rounded off the month with a 2-0 win over Burnley at the weekend.

It wasn’t just the results that were impressive but the team performances in light of the fact that Newcastle have several players out injured and Eddie Howe has had to shuffle the pack.
However, three players not only remained fit enough to feature in all of those games, but they managed to work their way into the WhoScored Team of the Month with £12million man Kieran Trippier being the highest rated player in the league.

Trippier was joined in the Team of the Week by Bruno Guimaraes who has found his form again following the international break and Anthony Gordon who has been simply sensational all season.

It was Trippier’s 13 key passes and four assists that bagged him Player of the Month with three of those assists coming in one game. Bruno bagged a goal and an assist along with multiple Player of the Match accolades in September.

Newcastle had more players in the Team of the Month than any other side

Anthony Gordon completed the trio with WhoScored choosing Gordon off the back of his game-changing display against Sheffield United and his 12 tackles in the month.
No other side had three players represented in the Team of the Month which shows just how brilliant Newcastle have been since the break.

With Paris Saint-Germain to come on Wednesday followed by West Ham at the weekend, the Magpies, who seem to be losing players to injury at a rapid pace, will no doubt be glad of the next international break following the clash with the Hammers.
