Wolves U21 coach says he has discovered ‘Outstanding’ 18-year-old talent at Molineux

Wolves are eagerly anticipating the potential of Enso Gonzalez, who is progressively adapting to English football. Gonzalez, aged 18, joined Wolves during the later stages of the transfer window, with the £5 million fee coming from the funds generated by Matheus Nunes’ departure. While the staff at Molineux are realistic about Gonzalez’s development, they acknowledge that it will take time for him to flourish.

James Collins, the Under 21 boss, spoke to The Athletic and emphasized Gonzalez’s talent while also highlighting his youth. Collins referred to Gonzalez as a “baby” and clarified that although some expected him to immediately join the first team, he needs more playing time to hone his skills. Despite the language barrier, Gonzalez has shown promise on the field, displaying his considerable talent and exciting potential, especially for the fans.

Collins recognized that Gonzalez still needs to grasp the tactical aspects of the game, which is challenging due to the language barrier. Nevertheless, Gonzalez’s demeanor and on-field courage are commendable. Given the current situation, it appears that Gonzalez’s action will primarily be with the under-21 team, as a stepping stone toward future first-team involvement. Collins believes in Gonzalez’s talent and has already included him in an under-21 match. Thus, Collins is the right person to nurture Gonzalez’s development until he is deemed ready for the first team, and it seems like only a matter of time before he becomes a regular in the under-21 squad. With the right guidance, Gonzalez’s exciting talent could flourish into a top-class player.
