West Bromwich Albion is set to face Plymouth Argyle at The Hawthorns for the first time since 2009, and their manager, Carlos Corberan, is dealing with several injury issues. Corberan, who recently took a short break in Spain to visit family during the domestic pause, returns to work as they prepare to play Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth Argyle has had a decent reintroduction to the Championship, but they’ve only managed to win one of their last six matches and have yet to secure an away victory this season. To make matters worse for Albion, their attacking options have been further depleted as John Swift, who was their top scorer this season and scored their goal in the last match against Birmingham City, is sidelined. This adds to the growing list of forward-minded players unavailable to Corberan, including Josh Maja, Daryl Dike, and Jeremy Sarmiento.

This leaves Corberan with limited senior options to fill the positions upfront, and he may need to make adjustments to compensate for the absence of key players. One player expected to step up is Tom Fellows, who has shown promise and was retained amid loan interest in the summer.

The team is relying on Brandon Thomas-Asante, who scored three goals in August but hasn’t been a guaranteed starter recently. Corberan may also consider moving Matt Phillips further forward, but in a home game where they aim to take an early lead, he could be kept in his current left wing-back role to provide an additional attacking outlet alongside the front three. The starting lineup will likely be determined based on player availability for the upcoming matches.

West Brom predicted XI: Palmer; Furlong, Ajayi, Kipre, Pieters, Phillips; Yokuslu, Mowatt, Diangana, Wallace; Thomas-Asante.
