On Friday night, Martin Dubravka received accolades for his outstanding performance in Slovakia’s 3-2 loss to Portugal during their EURO qualifier.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper made numerous remarkable saves, including a brilliant double save, yet was unable to prevent Cristiano Ronaldo from scoring twice in the thrilling five-goal match in Porto.

Following the game, two former colleagues, Martin Škrtel and Róbert Vittek, shared their thoughts about the goalkeeper on Slovakian television. They encouraged him to seek a new club in January after losing his starting position to Nick Pope:

Róbert Vittek remarked, “His performance against Portugal undoubtedly caught the attention of several intriguing clubs. If he doesn’t get a chance at Newcastle, I hope he secures a regular playing role at another club in January.”

Martin Škrtel added, “A goalkeeper with his exceptional abilities deserves to be on the field. Whether it’s at Newcastle or elsewhere, I am certain that the match against Portugal drew the interest of many agents, coaches, and officials, and Martin Dubravka’s name is now on their radar.”

Both are of the opinion that he is too talented to be a backup, with the former Liverpool center-back believing that numerous agents and scouts will be closely monitoring Dubravka after his impressive performance last week.
