QPR’s recent acquisition, Reggie Cannon, appears poised to make his debut for the team in their upcoming matches, having participated in a development squad game recently. Despite the development squad’s 1-0 loss to Bristol City’s U21s, this game marked Cannon’s first appearance in a QPR uniform.
Cannon, a 25-year-old with 28 caps for the USA national team, has joined QPR on a free transfer following his departure from Boavista in Portugal at the end of the previous season. QPR managed to secure his signature amid competition from several other clubs.
After the development game, Cannon expressed his readiness to make his competitive debut for the club, stating, “I am looking forward to being in that senior shirt, I feel ready to go.
Having spoken to the gaffer, I want to be involved in whatever way I can in the upcoming games, so I can’t wait for the weekend. Being part of the Development Squad on Tuesday was ultimately just about the fitness levels, but I am really looking forward to hopefully making my debut soon and helping this side.”
QPR, currently positioned 22nd in the Championship table, is scheduled to face Huddersfield Town this weekend. Cannon’s arrival is generating excitement among QPR fans.
This signing is an impressive one, and credit is due to the club for finalizing the deal. Coach Gareth Ainsworth is likely eager to include Cannon in the starting lineup. While Ziyad Larkeche took over for Osman Kakay in the last match, it’s expected that Cannon will assume the right-back position or possibly feature as one of three central defenders. His presence promises to provide a much-needed boost to the team during this challenging period of form, and there’s a possibility that he may make his debut against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
