Nottingham Forest 25-years-old midfielder Opens Up on Busted Milan Move

Former Bologna midfielder Nicolas Dominguez has confessed that he had initially held out for a move to Milan during the summer transfer window before ultimately signing a five-year contract with Nottingham Forest on the deadline day, as part of a swap deal that involved Remo Freuler.

Dominguez made a smooth transition to the demands of the Premier League, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter from the very beginning. He made a significant impact by scoring a crucial equalizing goal in his second appearance for Steve Cooper’s team, securing a 1-1 draw against Brentford.

However, the summer could have played out differently for Dominguez. Milan had expressed interest in him as they searched for a new holding midfielder. Eventually, Milan chose Yunus Musah, prompting Dominguez, the former vice-captain of Bologna, to reconsider his options.

As the transfer window neared its deadline, Nottingham Forest swiftly secured a deal to bring Dominguez to the City Ground, offering Freuler in exchange. Bologna didn’t require much persuasion, as they were aware of Dominguez’s aspiration to advance his career. Nevertheless, there remains a sense of regret regarding the failed move to Milan.

Dominguez acknowledged the Milan interest, saying, “Yes, there had been discussions about it, and I had heard a bit about it. I also waited for Milan, but nothing… I am content with the choice to come here.” He further shared, “Life here is somewhat different from Italy, but both my family and I are quite content here. To be honest, I don’t miss Italy very much.”
