Newcastle United is among the clubs interested in acquiring Serie A center-back Radu Dragusin, and his agent, Florin Manea, has been providing updates on the player’s future.
Manea has previously mentioned that several Premier League clubs are in “advanced talks” with the highly-rated Romania international, who is valued at £26 million. He recently revealed that Newcastle United had held “meetings” to discuss Dragusin’s potential availability at Genoa.
In the latest update, Manea discussed his relationship with Dan Ashworth, the sporting director at Newcastle, whom he has known since Ashworth’s time at West Bromwich Albion. He stated, “The chief with whom I made (the transfer of Gabriel) at West Brom is now at Newcastle. We have known each other since 2009. (Ashworth’s Newcastle) are watching (Dragusin), but so are other big clubs in England. There’s no official offer yet, but it’s coming.”
Manea has previously mentioned interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in past transfer windows, with Newcastle having a long-standing admiration for Dragusin. It is well-known that Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, is in search of a new right-sided center-half, and Dragusin seems to fit the bill.
Regarding Genoa’s stance, Manea mentioned that the Serie A club is currently unwilling to sell Dragusin, but they may consider letting him go in the summer if they receive their desired price. Genoa is reportedly seeking £25 million (approximately 30 million euros) for the player, a figure that Manea considers quite high.
Manea also indicated that there are several teams in the Premier League he is in contact with, suggesting that there is considerable interest in Dragusin’s services.
