The 31-year-old stars in the Footballer’s Football Podcast alongside Michail Antonio, as the Newcastle and West Ham strikers give their insight into the game. It is a great listen, and often provides some interesting nuggets of information about what goes on behind the scenes at Newcastle.
We have previously heard Wilson talk about how he helped Anthony Gordon following his arrival at St James’ Park, and now it turns out he has been helping another one of his teammates. However, this time he did it unknowningly.
On the latest episode of the podcast, Wilson and Antonio were asked what their teammates think about their show.

On the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson spoke about what Almiron recently said to him behind the scenes at Newcastle about the podcast.
“I had Miggy Almiron come up to me and say ‘Callum I listen to your podcast’,” he said.

“Basically he listens to the pod to help improve his English he was saying.
“You can listen to English people speaking I guess, but the way we speak to each other is faster, a little bit different, there’s a bit of slang in there and I guess it’s helping probably helping him improve in a certain way. He said it’s funny!”
Wilson does more than just score for Newcastle
When Wilson is on the pitch, he is scoring goals. He did that on Saturday, coming off the bench to net the fourth in Newcastle’s 5-1 win over Aston Villa.
Off the pitch, he is helping his teammate without even knowing! Almiron is working on his English, and using Wilson’s podcast to help him. Good job he never slags off the Paraguayan during the show!
It is great to know that Miggy is trying to improve his English, as that should lead to him becoming a better player. It will allow him to communicate more effectively with his teammates, rather than relying on a translator when receiving detailed instructions.
Obviously he has coped this long without speaking fluent English, having joined the club in 2019. But he is taking steps to improve now, and that will only benefit Newcastle United.
First we had David Ginola teaching Sandro Tonali Geordie slang and feeding him sausage rolls, now we’ve got Miggy learning English from Newcastle’s number nine.
