Craig Hope of The Mail has provided an upbeat injury update, revealing a triple boost ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Chelsea.
He reports that both Alexander Isak and Miguel Almiron ‘will be fit’ for the game this weekend after recovering from injuries sustained during the international break. Isak has missed the last five games due to a groin injury, while Almiron was forced off with a hamstring injury in our 2-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Sven Botman, meanwhile, has ‘progressed well’ in his recuperation from a knee injury. The Telegraph reported last week that he could be out until February if he needs surgery for the recurring problem. Hope, on the other hand, shows that if he continues to prevent swelling, he will be able to avoid surgery.
Sean Longstaff is the only one who has received negative news from his injury update. His ankle injury is ‘fast healing,’ but he’remains a doubt’ for Saturday’s encounter at St James’ Park.

We have a lot of problems right now – Wilson is out for six weeks, Anderson is still out, Barnes is still out, Tonali is suspended, Hall is ineligible against his parent club, and Burn, Targett, and Murphy are all out until the new year – but it’s great to hear some much-needed good news about Isak, Almiron, and Botman.
