West Brom currently holds a 44.8 percent probability of securing a spot in the Championship’s top six this season, as indicated by the Opta Supercomputer. Prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 EFL Championship, OptaAnalyst conducted an analysis involving 10,000 season simulations through the Opta supercomputer. As of November 21, they revisited these predictions.
The Baggies have surpassed the anticipated point total for this stage of the season, originally predicted at 22.8 points, by accumulating 26 points from 16 games. According to the Opta Supercomputer, the likelihood of Carlos Corberan’s team clinching a playoff spot has more than doubled, increasing from 5.6 percent before the season to 11.8 percent now.
Based on this data, West Brom appears to be progressing positively. They currently share the same points as Sunderland, holding the sixth position in the Championship, and trail five points behind the in-form Leeds United, who occupy third place.

While the Opta Supercomputer indicates a reduction in the club’s chances of finishing in the top two compared to the season’s outset, their playoff aspirations have seen across-the-board improvement.
In addition to the heightened probability of finishing sixth, their chances for securing fifth (5.8 percent), fourth (5.4 percent), and third (4.7 percent) have all risen to 11.7 percent, 10.1 percent, and 7.5 percent, respectively.
For West Brom supporters who appreciate statistical insights, these developments likely inspire confidence in the team’s potential to make a strong push for Wembley this season.
