Carlos Corberán offers fitness update on returning duo & international trio

Carlos Corberán claims that the return of Josh Maja and John Swift to training has significantly improved his squad.

Swift, Albion’s top striker with six, hasn’t played since the match against Birmingham City on October 6, while Maja has missed the last ten games after suffering an injury in the 0-0 draw at Bristol City in September.

Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana, and Jayson Molumby have also returned to base in excellent health after representing their respective countries over the international break.

And the manager believes the Baggies are now clearly in a lot “stronger” position in terms of availability heading into Saturday’s meeting with Ipswich Town than they were two weeks ago before the last fixture against Southampton.

“It’s always very encouraging to see the group grow,” Carlos stated.

“We have brought back players who were injured and were out of the team, such as John Swift and Josh Maja.”

“Jeremy Sarmiento has also had two weeks to recover and get stronger and fitter.”

“We have more attack options, and I believe we are always stronger when everyone is available and ready to compete.”

“Before making a decision about Saturday’s game, we need to see how John Swift and Josh Maja react to the training sessions this week.” The decision will be based on their physical values and the body’s reaction to the stimulation from exercise during the week.

“I am feeling positive about both players though.”

“Each scenario is unique in terms of the players we’ve had away on international duty.”

“Semi Ajayi played 90 minutes in both of Nigeria’s games, which is a huge plus, especially since he hasn’t been playing for the majority of our team’s minutes.”

“He’s has the possibility to play and he has recovered well.”
“For Jayson Molumby, the situation is similar. He didn’t play every minute for us in the previous games, but he got the opportunity to play 90 minutes for Ireland on Tuesday night.

“It’s good because he performed well.” It’s yet another way to bolster the squad.

“Grady Diangana only played 45 minutes for DR Congo in the second game due to a kick to the ankle.” Fortunately, he has not been injured and has been working with the group. He’ll be ready to join the team.”
