Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has responded to talk of the Magpies bringing in stars from the Saudi Pro League after Premier League vote went in their favour.
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says that loaning players from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League is not the “be all and end all” for the Magpies ahead of the January transfer window.
A Premier League vote failed to pass this week when a clutch of sides, including Liverpool, Man United and Spurs, did not gain enough support – meaning Newcastle can potentially loan players from four Saudi clubs in January. With the likes of Sadio Mane, Ruben Neves and Karim Benzema available to the Magpies, it could bolster their chances in the winter window.
“Newcastle, our club, had a view. We voted in a way, a way that we’re allowed to, and the vote came out on the side that it did.”
Newcastle will have money to spend in January and have options outside of the Saudi Pro League.
Howe said: “I think just from my dealings with it, we’re very relaxed on it. It’s not the be-all and end-all for us. We’ve got a squad that we really like. Now if we get players fit before January then the need to recruit will become much less intense for us.”
