rgentine international’s powerful overhead kick sailed past Jordan Pickford of Everton, prompting comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s iconic goal in the Manchester derby from 12 years prior.

For fans of Bradford City, the goal may have brought back memories of Stan Collymore’s impressive debut goal against Leeds in the final Premiership season. However, those with a longer history of supporting the team might also recall an equally spectacular moment from Bruce Bannister against Barnsley in 1968.

Despite scoring 60 league goals during his six years at Valley Parade, Bannister’s winning goal from the edge of the area against the Tykes is etched in the memories of older supporters.

One fan, Adam Walter, reminisced, “Garnacho’s goal for Manchester United was good, but Bruce’s winning goal from the edge of the area in the last minute was out of this world. It was a wonderful strike that I still remember 55 years later!
