Chiefs key man set to be out for week14 game with shoulder injury
Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was absent from Thursday’s practice due to a shoulder injury, potentially ruling him out for the Week 14 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Alongside Pacheco, left tackle Donovan Smith, dealing with a neck stinger, also missed practice. In their absence, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and rookie tackle Wanya Morris are preparing to take on starting roles against the Bills.
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy commented on the situation, stating, “We’ll see. Pop (Pacheco) has been exceptional for us all year. The other players in that position group have performed well in filling that role. It’s essential to adopt a next-man-up mentality.”
Despite running back Jerick McKinnon managing a groin issue, he participated fully in Thursday’s practice. Pacheco currently ranks third in rushing yards in the AFC and fifth in the NFL with 779 yards. Last week against Green Bay, he played through a shoulder contusion, tallying 18 carries for 110 yards.
Edwards-Helaire, with 140 rushing yards this season, could be a significant contributor if Pacheco is sidelined. Notably, he was Kansas City’s leading rusher against Buffalo last season, recording nine carries for 33 yards.
