25-year-old fantastic left back admits he's desperate for west ham move

Cameron Pring, a fan favorite on loan at Portsmouth, confesses he is flattered by rumors of a transfer to the Premier League.

In July, The Daily Mail reported that West Ham had “looked at” the 25-year-old as they looked to replace their left defender. Pring and other players like Quilldschy Hartman are thought to be on the Hammers’ radar, but the London club has not yet made any moves.
Since the rumors first surfaced a week ago, Pring has kept his head down and carried on with his work, making two Championship appearances for Bristol City this year as Nigel Pearson’s go-to left-back.

However, he was introduced to the media ahead of Birmingham City’s visit this weekend, and reporters asked him about the transfer rumors.

In the news conference for Bristol City on Thursday, Pring stated, “I think it’s always flattering when clubs are interested in you.

It kind of surprises me just like it surprises everyone else.

“I only learned about it from a mail sent to me by some pals one day. I experienced the same surprise as everyone else.

Pring: Buzzing To Join Blues - News - Portsmouth

Although Pring’s stint at Fratton Park was brief, he was well-liked while he was there, and the club served as his final loan club before he was promoted to the Bristol City first team. He had time with Guernsey, Merthyr Town, Aldershot Town, Hereford, Newport County, Cheltenham Town, and Walsall before signing with Portsmouth, and he primarily played League Two football throughout those clubs’ tenures.

In September 2020, he was hired on a season-long loan, however it was shortened and he was called up in early January 2021. At the time, he was 22 years old and played for Pompey in 15 games, nine of which were in League One and the other two in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.

Pring was disappointingly not able to play for his parent club upon his recall, but he has since developed into a crucial member of Nigel Pearson’s team. Pearson presently prefers him as the starting left-back because of his 64 Championship appearances over the past two seasons.

His present contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2024, so the West Country club will need to take action on it soon, though they do have the option to extend it by another year.
