REPORT: Kansas City Chiefs now termed favorites to sign another superstar Catcher as Kadarius Toney replacement

Kansas City Chiefs Showing Interest In Former Eagles Pass Catcher

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to be exploring options to address their late-season pass-catching needs, particularly focusing on tight ends. This comes as the team leads the league in dropped passes this season. The offensive struggles of the Chiefs can be attributed to issues with both wide receivers and tight ends, including penalties, subpar route running, and frequent drops throughout the season. Head coach Andy Reid has even hinted at the possibility of benching Kadarius Toney following his disappointing performance against the New England Patriots.

In a recent development, the Chiefs conducted workouts for tight ends Izaiah Gathings and E.J. Jenkins, as reported by Aaron Wilson from KPRC. Gathings, a rookie UDFA, had previous experience with the New York Jets in the spring, while Jenkins, also a rookie UDFA, was added to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad in November.

Chiefs Work Out TEs Izaiah Gathings & E.J. Jenkins: Report

Despite these workouts, the Chiefs appear to be open to further changes to their roster as the season progresses. Considering their ongoing search for pass-catching solutions, there are additional options from the former Philadelphia Eagles roster that the Chiefs could pursue. Notably, free agent tight end Zach Ertz and DeSean Jackson, who expressed interest in playing for the Chiefs last week, could be potential targets.

The decision on whether the Chiefs will make roster moves and sign additional players before the playoffs remains uncertain, but it adds an element of intrigue to their late-season strategy.
