Auburn gets much-needed OL commitment with 3-star Favour Edwin

After making it to Favour Edwin’s shortlist on November 2, Auburn emerged victorious in the competition, securing both his commitment and signature on Wednesday night. Despite facing strong contenders like Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia Tech, Auburn prevailed in the bid for the 3-star offensive line prospect from Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Ga.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-8 and weighing 290 pounds, Edwin is ranked as the 56th offensive tackle nationally and the 69th overall high school prospect in Georgia by 247Sports. Notably, Edwin ventured into football just this spring of 2023, transitioning from a basketball background.

According to 247Sports, Auburn, led by Hugh Freeze, extended the second offer to Edwin on August 16, following an earlier offer from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Edwin visited The Plains on September 30 during the Auburn-Georgia game and returned on November 25 for the Auburn-Alabama matchup. By the second visit, Edwin had already narrowed down his choices to five teams, including Auburn and Crimson Tide.

Facing the departure of three starting offensive linemen—Gunner Britton, Avery Jones, and Kam Stutts—Auburn has actively pursued offensive linemen in the transfer portal. With the inclusion of Edwin, Hugh Freeze and the Tigers are poised to welcome at least three new additions to the offensive line room, with 4-star DeAndre Carter and 3-star JUCO prospect Seth Wilfred already in the mix. The potential for more additions remains, pending the Tigers’ success in recruiting an offensive lineman from the transfer portal.
