LSU’s true freshman offensive lineman, Lance Heard, has declared his transfer to Tennessee. The 6-foot-6, 340-pound lineman, originally from Monroe, Louisiana, was ranked as the No. 51 overall prospect and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2023 class. Despite being a true freshman, Heard played in 12 games at tackle for the Tigers during the past season. After entering the transfer portal on January 2, he explored options with visits to Tennessee and Oklahoma before ultimately choosing the Volunteers.
Tennessee, facing a need for support on the offensive line due to the transfer of right tackle Gerald Mincey to Kentucky, secured Heard’s commitment. With three years of eligibility remaining, Heard is eligible to play immediately upon joining Tennessee.
The Volunteers have been actively enhancing their roster through the transfer portal, not only acquiring Heard but also adding other talents such as Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, Tulane wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, Alabama tight end Miles Kitselman, Temple cornerback Jalen McMurray, Oregon State cornerback Jermod McCoy, and Middle Tennessee State safety Jakobe Thomas.
