Burnley appears to have narrowly missed out on one of their targets in their attempt to sign a center-back before the transfer market closes.

Christopher Wooh, a defender for Rennes, reportedly declined the chance to sign with the Clarets, according to L’Equipe.

According to reports, the center defender was approached by several English teams, Burnley “in particular,” and they “declined” to sign him.

According to reports, Wooh “pushed back” the interested parties because he wants to finish the season in Rennes.
It sounds like the prospect was turned down before they could discuss terms of payment, so it’s unclear if Burnley ever made an offer to recruit the defender.

Maxime Esteve, a player from Montpellier, is reportedly pressing for a move and is simply waiting for the go-ahead to finalize the deal, so the Clarets are still in the lead to sign him.

It has also been stated that the team should not give up on its goal of signing a left-back before the deadline.
